Mt Vesuvius 🌋
It is still an active volcano. It's last eruption was in 1944.

The area surrounding the mountain is classed as a Red zone, which means it is illegal to live in that zone. However, there are people still inhabiting the area, growing grapes and producing delicious wine 🍷.

Tour companies are required to check in with the monitoring station before heading up to the walking path to the top of the crater.

I was grateful I had the opportunity to climb to the top and equally grateful it didn't erupt 😂

Mt Vesuvius is 1280m high, the walkway to the crater starts at 1070m. It's a steep 210m climb (over 1.6km). Worth the views and experience 😍
